Bottom-up construction of complex superlattices using self-assembly of soft matter is a promising approach for large-scale production of intricate nano-patterns. Homogenous soft matter, i.e., block copolymers, dendrimers, and giant molecules, can be used to fabricate complex 3D superlattices with extraordinary photonic and phonon properties. The article provides a perspective on the development of complex spherical packing superlattice by homogenous self-assembly, reviewing the unique hierarchical self-assembling processes, the general features of different superlattices, and discussing challenges and potentials in this field.
Electrodeposition is an effective method for the fabrication of organic films. Electropolymerization and several other special organic electrodeposition techniques are described. Highly luminescent films and OLEDs, in particular AMOLEDs and OLEDs with a super high-resolution of 2822 ppi, have been fabricated by electrodeposition.
All polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) possess the advantages of mechanical flexibility and morphology stability. In this review, we introduce the development history of then-type conjugated polymer (n-CP), especially the recent research progress of the polymerized small molecule acceptors. In addition, the challenges and prospects of then-CP and all-PSCs are analyzed and discussed.
We describe the recent progress in D-A conjugated polymers for OFETs from three aspects: (1) the modification of π-conjugated backbone, (2) the evolution of the polymerization methods and (3) the regulation of aggregate-state structure.
The review summarizes the progress in molecular design, synthesis and solution-processing of DPP-based conjugated polymers for OTFT devices and circuits. The important roles of design strategies, synthesis methods and processing techniques are highlighted and discussed.
Polymer translocation has been one of challenging research topics in polymer physics. Despite great progresses made in previous studies, many essential problems remain unsolved. This review has expounded some major advances in different aspects of translocation, such as capture process, critical flux, conformational transition, and translocation time.
Taking advantage of the surface modification strategy of mussel-inspired dopamine chemistry and its excellent photothermal conversion effect, polydopamine (Pdop) represents a versatile photothermal therapy platform, providing strategies and methods for the construction of novel Pdop-functionalized photothermal conversion materials.
The simple binary systems of (RPhOH)/Al(C6F5)3are facile for the preparation of PIBs with moderate and/or high molecular weights under mild experimental conditions (toluene solvent and high temperature from −20 °C to 0 °C).
Through neodymium-mediated coordinative chain transfer copolymerizaiton (CCTcoP), polyisoprenes bearing dual hydroxylated mini-blocky chain-ends were preparedviaa three-step strategy. The polymerization demonstrated features of CCTcoP,i.e., quasi-living characteristic, tunable molecular weights, narrow polydispersities, and high atom economies. The polymers can be facilely modified to improve the hydrophilic properties.
The facile preparation of 4-hydroxyproline-derived bridged bicyclic lactams bearing pendant Boc-protected group, and oligo-ethylene glycol group is reported. Lithium hexamethyldisilazide (LiHMDS)-mediated polymerization of the resulting monomers exhibited a controlled feature, affording sustainable aliphatic polyamides withMnup to 73 kg/mol and a lowĐ< 1.28.
Well-defined PCHC doils can be prepared via copolymerization of CO2and cyclohexene oxide catalysed by a combination of one-component phosphonium borane Lewis pair and water.
Ergodicity is essentially important for research of reaction mechanism, yet hard to achieve in the formalism of DFT calculation. The stride strategy helps to discover new landscapes involving the omitted reaction pathways and enabling the quasi-ergodic search of reaction pathways to obtain the globally minimum barrier. The strategy was employed to establish a satisfactory structure-reactivity relationship for ring-opening polymerization of cyclic monomers.
A rapid and highly efficient step-growth polymerization with reaction-enhanced reactivity of intermediate (RERI) mechanism based on copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction was developed to achieve the (ultra)high-molecular-weight mainchain semifluorinated polymers with diverse chemical compositions under a stoichiometric imbalance condition.
Controlled fabrication of uniform nanorods have remained a considerable challenge. We report the formation of helical nanorods with controlled handedness and uniform lengths in aqueous mediaviaself-assembly of digital amphiphiles and subsequent thermal annealing. We also explored the precise synthesis and controlled self-assembly of digital dendrimers with discrete molecular weights.
The crystallization rate of PCL on oriented PE substrate decreases with increasing film thickness, which is attributed to the existence of a freezing PCL layer with pre-oriented chain segments. It is found that freezing PCL layer at PE surface has a similar thickness as theRgof used PCL.
A method is developed to prepare asymmetric mesoporous carbon microparticles by neutral interface-guided 3D-confined self-assembly of block copolymer/homopolymer blends, followed by a self-templated selective direct carbonization strategy.
Two new ratiometric hypoxia probes (Ir-C343 and Ir-GFP) are synthesized, and a ratiometric response is realized that is only related to oxygen concentration. Ir-GFP shows promising applications in the ratiometric hypoxia imaging of cells due to its long excitation wavelength, good water solubility, high biocompatibility, and low relative fluorescence intensity compared with the phosphorescent emitter Ir-fliq.
Multiple resonance dendrimers are developed by introducing carbazole dendrons in periphery of boron, nitrogen-doped polycyclic aromatic skeleton, which enable narrowband blue electroluminescence with small full-width at half maximum of 24 nm and maximum external quantum efficiency of 17.3% by solution process.
Here, we regulate the aggregation states of P3HT and doping with F4TCNQ to ensure the polarons on the backbone to have high charge dissociation and transport. The dopants do not destroy the π-π interaction and only enter the alkyl side chain region which has smaller Coulomb interaction to the polarons.
Direct arylation polycondensation synthesized conjugated polymer PFuDPP-4FTVT is soluble in 3-methylcyclohexanone (3-MC). n-Channel organic thin-film transistors of the polymer with electron mobility (μe) above 1 cm2·V−1·s−1were fabricated with 3-MC. This is the first report on high mobility conjugated polymers processible with naturally occurred green solvent.
