Dipolar glass polymers exhibit outstanding dielectric properties and energy storage performances through enhanced dipolar polarization provided by free rotation of dipoles. Due to the steric hindrance of main-chain type dipoles, the side-chain type dipoles will become an effective route to explore high performance dipolar glass polymers.
Transparent PVDF-based piezoelectric films with good adhesion and high output performance were fabricated by a large-scale and low-cost method. Transparent piezoelectric sensors exhibit excellent piezoelectric sensing and energy harvesting performance for piezoelectric touchscreens and wearable devices.
The fibrous membranes exhibited switchable superhydrophilicity and superlipophilicity characteristics, excellent adsorption abilities toward organic dyes, heavy metal ions, and oils. Specifically, the membrane could rapidly remove the trace MB when water flowed through the membrane. The membrane also exhibited excellent sterilization performances and light-to-heat conversion ability.
The sulfonated multiblock poly(arylene ether sulfone)s were prepared by precise controllable post-sulfonation. The polymerization processes resulted in different micro-morphology and further affected the properties of them. The membrane prepared by one-pot hydrophilic segment process showed the most clear microphase separation and highest proton conductivity.
PFSA/PBI composite membranes as proton exchange membranes for fuel cells were prepared by solution blending and film casting. The optimized PFSA/PBI-30 composite membrane exhibited greatly enhanced tensile strength, Young’s modulus, and excellent antioxidation stability with less than 5% initial mass loss over 120 h in Fenton reagent.
By employing graphene oxide (GO) as the aerogel skeleton and utilizing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to regulate the ice crystal growth, we elucidate the relationships between the physicochemical properties of GO/PVA aerogel precursors, the nucleation and growth of ice crystals, and aerogel structure by using an ice-templating method.
The effect of fluorinated biphenyl diamine monomers on the properties of polyimides was systematically investigated. With comparable optical transparency to trifluoromethyl substitution, the simple fluoro group brings the advantages of dense polymer chain packing and thus improved thermal, dimensional and mechanical properties.
Polyurethane/polyaniline/nanosilica composites were prepared. The electronic resistance of the polyurethane was decreased, while the strength of the polyurethane was increased. As a result, the antistatic and mechanic properties of polyurethane were improved with the doping of polyaniline and nanosilica.
Piezoelectricity can be obtained by directly hot pressing poly(vinylidene fluoride) films sandwiched between chitosan or cellulose films. The electrostatic interactions enable an exceptional high content of polar phases (- and -phases) up to 90% and a measured piezoelectric charge coefficient d33 of up to -30 pC/N.
We study the response of star polymer melts having variable arm numbers to start-up shear flow via nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulation. This work reports the unusual rheological response of star polymers with a large number of arms to start-up shear.
The grafting process onto a flat substrate with polydisperse feeding polymers is investigated via simulation strategy. We find a determined dependence of grafting density on the mean chain length of feeding polymers. A correctional equation is proposed to quantitatively predict the molecular weight distribution of surface-bound polymers.
We constructed predictive models using machine learning for three polymer-solvent interaction parameters: Flory-Huggins interaction, Hildebrand solubility and the relative energy difference in Hansen solubility, and then compiled them into software (polySML-PSI). The impact of solvent properties on interaction and the applicability of commonly used empirical rules were evaluated further.
