Fractionated crystallization kinetics and polymorphic homocrystalline structure of asymmetric PLLA/PDLA blends are influenced by fD and Tc. Crystallization of -HCs is favorable in the blends with high fD at a low Tc, which is attributed to the conformational matching between -HCs and SCs, and the constrained effects of precedingly-formed SCs.
This work studied the quantitative relation between the crystallization memory effect and the macromolecular architecture using four kinds of 1-butene/α-olefin random copolymers with various branch length and density. The occurrence of memory effect can be enhanced by increasing the branch length and density, which exhibits a direct correlation with crystallinity.
The shackling effect was revealed here in cyclic azobenzene deravitives due to ring strain, which induces the liquid crystal phase by reducing the entropy change during phase transitions, and limits the trans-to-cis isomerization of azobenzene units under UV-light.
In this study we have discovered a novel co-crystallization manner of random copolymer of poly(propylene succinate-ran-propylene fumarate), which is belonging to crystallographic isodimorphism but intriguingly displays isomorphic thermal properties. The copolymers combine the advantages of both isodimorphism and isomorphism, leading to new performance design of polymer materials.
We report interfacial welding between epoxy vitrimers and an epoxy vitrimer and a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Catalyst-controlled interfacial properties for both the vitrimer/vitrimer and vitrimer/TPU are observed. The more efficient the catalyst for the transesterification reactions, the larger the interfacial fracture energy is, and the better the welding strength will be.
In this study, we find that applying strong shear flow on poly(butene-1) induces formation of precursors of fibrillar crystals. The growth of the precursors is akin to the gelation process.
Herein, a case of supramolecular polymerization with a liquid crystalline (LC) block copolymer (BCP) as “monomer” and heavy metallic salts as “initiators” was reported. The lengths of the resultant uniform supramolecular polymer fibrils could be finely tuned by adjusting the type and content of metallic salts.
The relationship between localization of PBSU in interlamellar/interfibrillar regions and double peaks behavior in DSC/SAXS has been clarified. Furthermore, it provides a novel strategy for detecting the interlamellar and interfibrillar segregation of low-Tm component in miscible crystalline/crystalline blend.
The residual stress distribution and shape accuracy by characterizing the curvature of a nano-molded semicrystalline polymer is studied by molecular dynamics simulations. The results provide a theoretical guidance to understand and improve the shape accuracy and mechanical properties of nanoscale polymer products.
The periodic arrays of PEO-b-P2VP isolated single crystals of uniform size with simultaneously controllable number density and spatial distribution of nuclei were prepared by self-nucleation of patterned dendritic crystals.
This work studies, through practical examples, how to perform isothermal experiments, either continuously or by step, and how to fit or analyze the generated data with the Avrami, and Lauritzen and Hoffman theories, using the Crystallization Fit Origin App ® developed by us.
By employing sandwich structure constructed by silver electrode and P3HT/P(VDF-TrFE) blend film on graphene substrate, high performance ferroelectric memory devices have been obtained, which exhibit a great electrical switching behavior with high ON/ OFF ratio of about 1000 and low coercive voltage of approximately 5 V.
We first discovered three new α-phase nanostructures {$ \left(010\right) $ upright-, $ \left(100\right) $ flat-, $ \left(1\stackrel{-}{1}1\right) $ tilting-ring} of PBT nanorods in cylindrical confined crystallization. We demonstrate the nanostructure formation mechanism from the aspects of geometrical constraints and pore wall interfacial effect.
