A light wavelength-selective approach to in situ regulate the network topology from c-IPN to d-IPN by in situ grafting and disconnecting polymer chains from the inimer sites. The change in topology from c-IPN to d-IPN made a negligible contribution to materials’ mechanical properties.
Seamlessly integrated textile electric circuits are achieved by weaving conductive fibers with self-connecting capacity at the interwoven points, due to the designed dynamic bonds of aromatic disulfide metathesis and hydrogen bonds in their composite polyurethane shell layers. Such self-connecting strategy could be generalized to weave full-textile electronics capable of receiving signals and displaying.
The unprecedented activities and selectivities were achieved in epoxide copolymerization reactions with CO2, COS or anhydrides via inter- or/and intra-molecular synergistic catalysis, affording the completely alternating copolymers with low dispersities. In some cases, highly enantioselective epoxide copolymerization was realized in a controllable manner to generate isotactic copolymers with main-chain chirality.
In this work, a novel boron-containing phthalonitrile monomer was synthesized. This monomer can act as Lewis acid curing agent individually. Two model compounds were used to further understand the Lewis acid curing mechanism. The current boron-containing system exhibited good processability and thermal properties.
Poly(S-allylcysteine), PAC, was synthesized via NCA and NPC. PAC can be modified by thiol-ene functionalization of pendent unsaturated bonds and oxidation of thioether to sulfoxide. Polyalliin, the oxidation product of PAC, are enzymatically degradable.
A family of highly bulky bis(salicylaldiminate) Co(II) complexes bearing cavity-like conformations are disclosed. The cobalt center is well protected by the bulky ligand. Ultra-high catalytic efficiency can be revealed at extreme low catalyst concentrations. Thermostabilities of the active species, that give quite high polymer yields at temperature up to 120 °C.
The layer of PPy has been uniformly deposited onto the PU@PEG coaxial electrospun membranes by electrochemical polymerization. Benefit from the outstanding light absorption and electrical conductivity of PPy, the PU@PEG-PPy membranes have good mechanical properties and respond quickly to sunlight or electric stimuli, displaying great application prospects in thermal management.
Combining polarity pretreatment with dopamine-sedimentation, stiff PP monofilament can be wrapped up facilely and tightly in soft polyurethane to obtain PU/PP complex fiber with a core-shell structure.
In this work, carbon particles with different topological shapes were added into PVA aqueous dispersion to tune the steady and dynamic rheological behavior. 0D particle carbon black bring viscosity of PVA dispersion to increase monotonously. 1D particle CNTs make viscosity of PVA dispersion change as an N-shape. 2D particle GO make viscosity of PVA dispersion change as a U-shape. Shape and surface character of particle have synergistic effect on tuning viscosity of PVA dispersion.
Well-defined polypropylene grafted silica nanoparticles (PP-g-SiO2) with controlled grafting density were prepared by “grafting-to” method, which were dispersed in PP matrix to prepare nanocomposites via solution blending. The PP-g-SiO2 with high molecular weight of grafted chains provided a great number of heterogeneous nucleation sites, which significantly improved the crystallization abilities of nanocomposites.
Polyimide fibers with an ultrahigh thermal stability, superior flame retardancy and low smoke release were prepared by dry spinning, thermal cyclization and hot-drawing and were used on a large scale in high temperature filtration, aerospace and thermal protection fields.
This study shows a well-defined concentration scaling of the rheometric properties of extremely polydisperse polymer solutions across semi-dilute entangled concentration range. The time-concentration superposition principle is validated and extended in the data analysis of the terminal dynamic regime. The concentration scaling differences with other monodisperse polymer solutions are identified.
The rod-shaped Bi2S3 was grown in situ on the surface of rGO by hydrothermal method, and then cyanated. The above obtained fillers compounded with crosslinkable polyarylene ether nitrile to prepare a high temperature resistant dielectric film material with a Tg of 250 °C and dielectric constant of 6.8.
By blending SiO2 nanoparticles, the interfacial effect of its surface was used to retard the chain dynamics of PCL, leading to the enhanced melt memory effects of PCL. The relationship between particle dispersion, interfacial effect and crystallization rate and the melt memory effect of PCL was revealed.
For the first time, silicon carbide nanowhiskers were employed as microwave susceptor to absorb microwave for the joining of PP substrates. Under controlled microwave power and clamping pressure, welded joints were formed and the mechanical properties were improved due to the formation of nanocomposite at the interface of welded joints.
The percolation threshold of silica was reduced to as low as 5 wt%. The crystalline, rheological and mechanical properties of PPC composites were improved which should attribute to the formation of double percolation structure.
Development of alternative reinforcement fillers for carbon black has attracted widespread attention. Her, the reinforcement of illite modified by organic silane on styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) was explored. The increment of tensile strength and modulus at 300% strain of more than 7 times demonstrates its potential application as reinforcing filler for SBR.
Theoretical models were developed to simulate the piezoresistive behavior of compressible melamine sponge/carbon-based fillers composites; the modeling results show good agreement with the experimental data.
