Lei Peng, Ji-Long Mo, Shen-Ming Tao, et al. Robust and Flexible Temperature-resistant Cellulose Paper
Paper with short-term thermal shock resistance is crucial for applications such as electrical insulation yet suffers from yellowing and mechanical degradation under transient heat exposure. In this study
robust and flexible temperature-resistant paper was developed using a hybrid strategy of material selection and process optimization. The findings reveal that cotton fibers (10 wt%–40 wt% content) synergistically improve both the tensile strength and heat-induced enhancement effects. Aramid fibers
owing to their intrinsic thermal stability
serve as the most effective component for color protection
whereas basalt fibers provide reliable thermal dimensional stability. Furthermore
a functionally layered composite structure is proposed that utilizes hardwood fibers to construct a mechanical framework
while aramid and basalt fibers constitute the surface protective layer. The interfacial bonding strength was enhanced by the calendering process. The design significantly improved the whiteness retention and increased the strength by up to 29.42%
offering a reliable technical pathway for balancing the performance of paper-based materials subjected to short-term high-temperature exposure.
